Philosophical truth

There I was sitting in Philosophy class, doing what all good philosophy students do best...Thinking.

I listen to Mr L excitedly shout on about Aristotle and Plato, Socrates and reality, the relationship between the body and the mind and Life after Death.
I have been faced with questions such as 'What is the nature of external reality?' 'Why is it possible to know anything at all?'
Philosophy makes my head hurt.
In a good way.

What I found quite interesting is that philosophy supposedly ''undergirds every subject!" as my teacher likes to say. According to him, it should be compulsory to study it. Maybe he's right, for without philosophy we wouldn't have mathematics, the sciences, or even the reasoning to write the amazing essays we somehow manage to produce for our exams.

What was even more interesting was the fact that philosophy also has a basis. What we think of the following topics will determine our recourse on philosophy, and subsequently life itself.

Theology. Who is God?
Veritology-What is truth?
Anthropology-What is man?

If you think you are a biological being who through the miracle of evolution, somehow went from an amoeba, to an ape, to a human being; a cosmic accident, a random mutational product, you will live your life that way. For you have no purpose. You will supposedly return to the earth from whence you have come and so will the great random cycle continue...or will it?

Ifyou believe that God, the creator of the heavens and the earth made you for a purpose, you willl live to fulfill that purpose. You'll live for his glory. You'll live for the truth. You will not be ashamed of the gospel of Christ, of God's salvation to man. Eternal life.

Which is all so often unimaginably hard to do and comprehend in this corrupted word filled with chaos, pain and evil.
But continue to strive to fulfill the purpose God has given us. To be like Jesus. To be found in Him.

How does this relate to philosophy, you ask?

What is truth? Reality as seen by God.
God.
Do you know what the truth is? Do you know who He is?
Do you REALLY believe that what YOU believe is REALLY real?

Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” -John18:37
